Herne Bay - Landing, Stairwell & Hallway

The decorating project in Herne Bay began with a "warm welcome" on entry, setting the stage for a transformation of the home's central areas. The landing, stairwell, and hallway, the spine of the house, were in need of refreshing. Dulux Brilliant White on the ceilings, paired with "Timeless" on the walls and Brilliant White Satinwood on the woodwork, worked wonders. The tired green in the hallway was replaced with "Nordic Spa," which brought a lighter, crisper look that immediately enhanced the space.

The project also involved meticulous preparation, with cracks chased out, undulations filled, and surfaces finely rubbed down before the introduction of fresh paint. The stairwell is now brighter, with a mirror strategically placed to reflect light from the window at the top of the landing. Tracks from a removed wire were carefully dealt with, requiring patience and multiple coats of prime/undercoat and Satinwood to restore the woodwork to its former glory. The handrail and balustrades now stand proud, highlighted by a feature wall in the background.

With the removal of an old curtain baton and the choice of modern details, the woodwork now sits beautifully alongside the newly chosen colours. Even the loft hatch received attention, with the hardwood cap stripped, sanded smooth, and oiled as a tactile detail. The overall result is a bright and airy space, where the light walls allow the stain glass colours near the front door to shine through, completing the refreshed look.
